Career

the 21st century’s world of work.
This 20-week course will enable students to make the successful
transition form school to their first “real world” working experience. They will be shown how businesses operate in
today’s society, time management skills, the job selection process, and how to
handle their personal payroll finances.
In the
Business in Today’s Society Unit, students will increase their awareness of
their needs and wants as a consumer while looking at the business perspectives
of supply and demand. Students will also
be tapping into the major forms of business organization with an in-depth
perspective on many economic factors.
In the
Job Selection Process Unit, students identify and develop important job search
skills, talents and abilities needed to acquire specific job skills. In the unit students will be preparing
Resumes, Recommendation Letters, and Job Application Forms in order to land
that first job.
In the
Managing Finances Unit, students prepare Budgets, Savings Plans, Payroll
deductions, and tax-related forms (such as W-4 & W-2 Forms) which employees
must complete correctly.
